Our Strategy 2027–2032

Early Help, Lasting Change

For over 26 years, Young Swindon and Wiltshire has worked alongside children and young people across our communities, helping them navigate challenges, build confidence and realise their potential.

Our new strategy, Early Help, Lasting Change, sets out our ambition for the next five years. It reflects what young people tell us they need, what communities tell us is missing, and what we believe is possible when the right support is available at the right time.

Every child and young person deserves the opportunity to thrive. Together, we can help make that happen.

Our Strategy

The Need We See

Growing up today is not easy.

Across Swindon and Wiltshire, many children and young people face challenges that affect their wellbeing, education and future opportunities. Too often, support arrives only when problems have become more complex and more difficult to overcome.

We believe there is a better way.

By investing earlier, strengthening communities and building supportive relationships, we can help young people overcome challenges before they reach crisis point. We can create stronger foundations, better outcomes and brighter futures.

Our Vision for Change

We want to see a Swindon and Wiltshire where every child and young person has access to everything they need to live a life full of hope and independence.

Every young person deserves to feel connected, supported and able to look to the future with confidence.

We want young people to have trusted adults in their lives. Places where they belong. Opportunities to develop their strengths. Access to support when they need it. And the confidence to shape their own future.

We believe challenges should be identified early, support should be available close to home, and communities should play a central role in helping young people thrive.

Our vision is ambitious, but simple: a future where children and young people are healthier, more connected, better supported and equipped with the opportunities they need to realise their potential.

How We'll Get There Creating this future will take commitment, collaboration and innovation. Over the next five years, we will focus on four priorities that we believe make the biggest difference in the lives of children and young people.

Working Earlier

Providing support as early as possible when challenges begin to emerge, helping young people stay connected to education, wellbeing and opportunity.

Building Communities

Creating supportive local networks of trusted adults, positive relationships and meaningful opportunities where young people can belong and thrive.

Focused on Skills

Helping young people develop confidence, discover their strengths and access pathways into employment, training and independent adulthood.

Empowered by Good Health

Improving wellbeing, health literacy and access to support so that young people feel informed, empowered and in control of their lives.

Creating Lasting Change Together

We take a whole-community approach to creating lasting change.

By combining professional youth work, early help, skills development and strong local partnerships, we support young people to overcome challenges, build confidence and unlock opportunity.

We bring together the people, resources and relationships needed to turn individual interventions into lasting, system-wide impact for young people across Swindon and Wiltshire.

Because lasting change happens when communities work together.

Led by Young People

Young people are at the heart of everything we do.

Their experiences, ideas and aspirations have shaped this strategy and will continue to influence our work over the coming years.

We are committed to listening, learning and creating opportunities for young people to help shape the decisions that affect their lives, their communities and their futures.

The most effective solutions are built with young people, not simply for them.

Join Us

The challenges facing young people are significant, but so too are their resilience, creativity and potential.

Whether you’re a young person, parent, school, partner organisation, funder, volunteer or supporter, we invite you to join us in creating a future where every young person feels seen, supported and able to thrive.

Together, we can create lasting change.
