Education

We work with young people to be confident and secure in school, or to help them re-engage with education through our Alternative Provision.

Emotionally Based Schools Non-Attendance (EBSNA) – Primary, Secondary and Transitions

Emotionally Based Schools Non-Attendance (EBSNA) offers personalised mentoring to 9 to 16-year-olds, to positively challenge and address barriers faced when accessing education. We have several preventative and proactive projects as part of EBSNA, supporting children and young people aged 9 to 11, and 11 to 16 years.

Young Swindon and Wiltshire mentors will work alongside the young person in the home, the community, and the educational provision to foster solutions that work for the young person.

Transitions for Young People

Transitions for Young People takes a relational, peer-led approach to mentoring, encouraging Year 10 students to mentor Year 6s as they transition from primary into secondary school.

This project aims to reduce the potential nerves and anxiety of Year 6s moving into secondary school, building their resilience to face new challenges. In return, the Year 10s are offered the opportunity of peer-based mentoring, enabling students to take the lead and develop their interpersonal and leadership skills.

1-to-1 Wellbeing Mentoring

1-to-1 Wellbeing Mentoring supports children & young people aged 9-16 to build resilience, motivation and self-confidence. Mentoring acts as an early intervention to boost wellbeing and help prevent wellbeing concerns from resurfacing again in the future. Mentoring can take place at school or in the community, and is tailored to meet the needs of the young person.

Alternative Provision

From our purpose-built Youth Centre we deliver Alternative Provision to young people, offering a range of vocational experiences designed to ignite curiosity, spark creativity, and develop practical skills.

We believe every young person has the potential to achieve, and we are committed to providing a child-led carousel of creative, skills-based, and career-based opportunities to support their personal development, build confidence, and prepare them for success in education, employment, or training.
